A Melbourne teenager who risks his life trainsurfing says he does it for one simple reason.

“It’s fun,” Josh told Tom Elliott.

The 16-year-old drew condemnation for his behaviour on 3AW Drive, as well as from Metro Trains.

“It is always very concerning to see people behaving so recklessly as they risk their lives or serious injury,” Metro said in a statement, responding to footage of Josh on the back of a train.

“The railway is only dangerous for those that choose to take these types of risks.

“We ask our passengers if they witness this type of irresponsible behaviour to call Triple Zero or press the emergency button on train carriages or on platforms.

“We have Authorised Officers across the network, CCTV cameras at every station and on each train carriage and a dedicated security and surveillance team who investigate every incident.

“We work closely with Victoria Police to investigate any unlawful and unsafe behaviour.”
