Tom Elliott takes aim at the ‘creeping ban’ on smoking

Tom Elliott has called on those pushing for smoking bans to come out and actually say it.

Fifteen organisations are calling for smoking to be banned outside pubs, restaurants and cafes completely.

It follows a push last week for smoking to be banned on balconies of apartment buildings.

Tom Elliott said he was sick of the ‘creeping ban’ on smoking.

‘If they hate smoking so much? simply advocate for smoking to be banned for everyone, everywhere,’ the 3AW Drive host said.

The Cancer Council of Victoria is one of the organisations supporting the proposal.

Chief Executive Officer Todd Harper said the proposal simply reflected the views of the majority.

‘More than 85 per cent of people don’t smoke and most of those don’t like being around smoke,’ he said.
