Tom Elliott has taken aim at those who attempt to ruin Australia Day celebrations. 

In recent years, many have used the occasion to promote calls for social and political change, but Tom says that shouldn’t be what the day is about.

‘It’s very unfortunate,’ Tom said on Tuesday.

‘Australia Day appears to have become a day to kick Australia.

‘This makes me angry.

‘There’s so many good things about this country. This is a great country that people are queueing up to get into.’

Tom said the day should be more like a wedding anniversary; all marriages have their issues, but you don’t highlight them at an anniversary celebration.
