Tom Elliott urges government to move power lines underground
Tom Elliott is urging the state government to push ahead with plans to move power lines underground to protect the grid from future major weather events.
Thousands of Victorian homes were without power last Tuesday when severe storms rolled through the state, knocking out power lines for hours.
Tom wants the Allen government to prioritise making alternations to the power system – as flagged in the recent bushfire Royal Commission – rather than continuing to push ahead with the expensive Suburban Rail Loop.
“The current government is forging ahead with the Suburban Rail Loop,” he said on 3AW Mornings.
