Tom Elliott weighs in on Ken Lay’s leaked report into a second safe injecting room in Melbourne

Tom Elliott has weighed in on former police chief Ken Lay’s leaked report, recommending to the state government that a second safe injecting room be set up in the CBD.

The 3AW Mornings host said a second injecting room would only benefit drug users, and would make the surrounding areas “far worse than what they already are”.

“I don’t know why the state government is keeping this report such a secret,” he said.

Nine News has been given exclusive detail of the report and Nine News reporter Laura Turner thinks the state government’s hand “needs to be forced” to release the full report to the public.

“There’s people dying while this is not happening, dying, families burying their children while this report is not being released,” Ms Turner told Tom Elliott.
