Tom Elliott has accused Australia’s netballers of “selective morality” after they reportedly refused to wear a uniform sponsored by mining magnate Gina Rinehart.

Some players in the Diamonds camp are said to be concerned about the sponsor, Hancock Prospecting, being branded across the uniform due to concerns about climate change.

Hancock Prospecting recently came to the aide of the cash-strapped organisation with a $15 million sponsorship, but the sponsor was nowhere to be seen on the Diamonds’ uniform against New Zealand last week.

“Weirdly, they wore their old outfits which have Origin Energy on them … last time I looked Origin Energy was an oil and gas company?” Tom Elliott said on Monday.

“It seems these netballers have a very selective morality.

“If they had any courage of their convictions, they’d let Netball Australia go broke, not get paid, and not take Gina Rinehart’s ‘evil’ money.”
