Tom Elliott has given his main takeaways from the Werribee and Prahran by-elections on the weekend to kick off his program this morning.

The 3AW Mornings host said the big swing towards the Liberal Party in Werribee was “catastrophic” for the Labor Party, with the result still up in air and will reportedly take a few days before an announcement is made.

“It was a protest vote, I think people in the western suburbs have felt that the Labor Party ignores them,” he said.

“This government is so on the nose,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“I spoke to two people over the weekend who live in the western suburbs … they say the mood is that Labor has abandoned us.”

Deputy Premier Ben Carroll then joined the program and stated it was a “sizeable” vote swing towards the Liberal Party in Werribee and was “unacceptable” for the Labor Party.

“They have sent us a message that we need to do better, and we will,” Mr Carroll said about people in the western suburbs.
