Tom Elliott has a theory as to why speed limits are being slashed in inner Melbourne.

It comes after the City of Stonnington announced they would be reducing the speed limit on Chapel Street to 30km/h.

“I think we’re being penny wise and pound foolish here,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

Mayor of the Stonnington City Council Melina Sehr then explained how it’s an 18-month trial, but Tom Elliott thought some of the logic was a “little bit torturous”.

“Chapel Street is the worst road in Victoria for crashes involving cyclists,” Councillor Sehr said on 3AW Mornings.
