Tom McDonald says Neville Jetta has been ‘doing it for years’

By JAKE BOURKE

Melbourne swingman Tom McDonald is clearly a fan of Neville Jetta.

And why wouldn’t he be?

The Demon defender has been in All Australian form this season, highlighted most recently by a brilliant performance against Carlton on Sunday.

Jetta won several critical contests when the match was on the line.

Speaking on 3AW, McDonald said it was about time his teammate was getting the credit he deserved.

“Neville’s done this for years, but in a backline that’s been smashed regularly,” McDonald said on Sportsday.

“He’s built himself, I think, to be one of the very best small defenders in the comp.

“But it’s hard to get recognition when you’re in 14th to 18th spot on the ladder.

“He’s getting his due. I’m really proud of the way he goes about his footy. He’s just super tough.

“Some of those one-on-ones he wins are just incredible for a man his size.”

McDonald also discussed the Demons thrilling win over Carlton, as well as the ugly incident involving Clayton Oliver and a fan.
