Tom Morris has been unveiled as Channel 9’s new chief football reporter, saying he remains “very grateful” for the support he’s been shown following a difficult few years.

Morris was sacked from Fox Footy at the start of the 2022 AFL season following a damaging leaked video where he was heard making disparaging remarks about a colleague.

“For a long time I thought there wouldn’t be a full time job (for me),” Morris told Neil Mitchell on 3AW Mornings after landing the coveted footy reporting role.

“I don’t take it for granted and I’m very grateful. I’ve got an unbelievable amount of gratitude to the people who have shown faith in me. I’m surprised that I’ve had that support from some people and I’ll never forget that.”

Tom also weighed in on the biggest footy stories right now , including the upcoming AFL fixture announcement and the Western Bulldogs post-season review.
