Tony Abbott says he won’t undermine Malcolm Turnbull after being ousted as Prime Minister
Outgoing Prime Minister Tony Abbott has vowed to make the transition to Malcolm Turnbull ‘as easy’ as possible after being ousted from office.
Mr Abbott blamed poll-driven media for his demise in his final address as PM, but said he would not ‘undermine or snipe’ his successor.
‘I’ve never leaked or backgrounded against anyone and I certainly won’t start now,’ Mr Abbott said.
‘Our country deserves better than that.
‘I want our government and our country to succeed ? I always have and always will.’
Mr Abbott said he was proud of getting rid of ‘bad’ taxes, stopping the boats, cracking down on unions and $50 billion of budget repair.
