Tony Jones hits out at Jason Ball for suggesting Apex gang is ‘fake news’ on Twitter

Tom Elliott

A failed Greens candidate has come under attack for suggesting the Apex gang is ‘fake news’.

Jason Ball made the controversial remark on Twitter.

Tony Jones said he found the tweet ‘offensive’ and disappointing, given some of the ‘terrific work’ Ball had done in the community.

He was awarded Victoria’s Young Australian of the Year this year.

‘I find it offensive,’ Tony Jones said on 3AW.

‘How many times on this very program does Neil speak with victims? They are stories of stress, tragedy and loss.

‘For somebody who actually ran for the federal parliament of this country to suggest it’s all fake beggars belief.’

Liberal MP Jason Wood said Ball should apologise.
