Tony Jones weighs in on Novak Djokovic playing at the Australian Open
Tony Jones has weighed in on Novak Djokovic’s medical exemption to play at the Australian Open.
The Channel 9 sports presenter says, as a Victorian, he’s “extremely uncomfortable” with the world number one travelling to Melbourne for two reasons:
“A) Because he is unvaccinated.
“B) Because we have done the hard yards to get where we are today and even now it’s a battle.”
But from a tennis perspective, Tony Jones says it’s “a big plus” that Djokovic will be playing.
“He’s got here because it’s been ticked off by some very credible bodies,” he said.
“It’s very hard to argue when you look at the bodies that have actually ticked that off.
“I just wonder what sort of reception he will get.”
