Tony Shaw has ‘no doubt’ Darren Millane would have replaced him as Collingwood captain
Collingwood great Tony Shaw says he has ‘no doubt’ Darren Millane would have succeeded him as captain of the Pies if not for his tragic death in 1991.
Shaw was responding to comments from former teammate Denis Banks on Fox Footy this week, in which Banks detailed a conversation he had with Millane about his desire to lead the Pies.
‘I’ve got no doubt if Darren Millane was alive and kept playing he would have been the next captain of Collingwood,’ Shaw said on 3AW Football.
The 1990 premiership captain also gave an insight into the famous BBQ which led to Tommy Hafey’s demise as coach of the Pies in 1982.
‘I just thought we’d be having a few beers,’ Shaw said.
