Top US diplomat in Australia on Five Eyes, China + what a Chargé d’Affaires actually does

The top US diplomat in Australia dropped by the studio for a chat with Ross and Russel.

Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Canberra, Michael Goldman, explained his role.

“It essentially means acting ambassador,” he said.

“We’re between ambassadors, I expect we’ll get someone in the new year.”

Mr Goldman explained how Five Eyes is just as beneficial to the US as it is to Australia, shared how life in the two countries differs, and weighed in on dealing with China.
