A photo of a topless woman wearing a 2017 Richmond premiership medal around her neck has been shared widely online, prompting calls for player education on respect for women.

Rumour File contributor ‘Model Medal’ raised the issue on 3AW this morning.

3AW has chosen to remove a heavily-edited copy of the photo.

“Rumour is that the AFL has a long way to go in its education of respect for women amongst the AFL players,” the caller said.

The identity of the Richmond player to whom the medal belongs has not been confirmed.

Later on 3AW Mornings Neil Mitchell and Tony Shaw discussed who, if anyone, is at fault in regards to the photo and its distribution.

Neil questioned if the woman had consented to pose for the photograph, as it would seem, whether she also has the right to control who sees it.

“It’s a matter of trust,” he said.
