Torquay to ‘eventually’ become suburb of Geelong

Torquay locals concede the beachside town will ‘eventually’ become a suburb of Geelong.

3AW Drive made the trip down the surf coast as part of its regular Your Town segment to find out what issues were at the forefront of the community.

Tom McGrath, co-owner of Bomboras restaurant and cafe, agreed with Tom Elliott’s view that the town had been a ‘victim’ of its own success.

He said he expected nearby building developments and the area’s booming population to eventually see houses all the way from south west Geelong link up with the existing Torquay community.

‘It’s looking that way,’ he said.
