Bogged hire car pulled from beach following tourist’s ‘joy ride’

A man from New South Wales has had his hire car pulled from the water after he took it for a joyride early this morning at Elwood Beach.

Today reporter Christine Ahern says police breathalysed the driver but let him go.

“He’s not only got the police to worry about, he’s also got the council turning up … Mohammed’s in all sorts of trouble at the moment because a tow truck did turn up, had a look, and went ‘nothing I can do’, u-turned and drove away,” she said.
