Traffic chaos after a steer fell from a truck on the Hume Freeway, offal also spills near Burnley Tunnel

LATEST: There’s been major delays getting into the Burnley Tunnel after a truck spilt animal parts all over the West Gate Freeway.

Two lanes were shut to clear the mess shortly after midday on Wednesday.

That incident followed delays on the Hume Freeway in the morning after a steer fell from the back of a truck.

3AW listener Mick told 3AW Mornings he used his garbage truck to safely block off the road.

Senior Sargent Wayne Spence told Neil Mitchell the injured animal would sadly be put down.
