Trailblazer Lyndall Hobbs reflects on the struggle for women in Hollywood
She’s been a TV journalist, filmmaker, interior designer, and breast cancer survivor.
Now, Lyndall Hobbs has penned a memoir of a life lived among celebrities and hollywood parties, A Girl From Oz.
A trailblazer for women, Ms Hobbs was the first female reporter on A Current Affair, and the first woman to swim with the famous Icebergers.
Ms Hobbs told Denis Walter Hollywood is a particularly difficult place for woman to crack.
‘As a woman, if you say anything, you’re considered a difficult bitch,’ she said.
‘Whereas a guy would just be a nice, strong, decisive director.’
Of the 250 films released in America in 2015, only 7% were directed by women.
