Tram, truck collision shuts down Sydney Road

A tram has been derailed in a collision with a truck at Coburg this morning.

The collision happened on Sydney Road near Munro Street about 6.20am.

Paramedics are treating two people.

A tram passenger aged in his 30s has a minor knee injury.

The driver of the truck has facial injuries.

Sydney Road is closed in both directions at Baxter Street.

Yarra Trams says the Route 19 tram is not operating between Moreland Road and Bell Street.

Commuters are advised to catch an Upfield line train or jump on the 512 bus.

Motorists should consider using St Georges Rd or Nicholson St to avoid the closure.
