A whopping 247 riders and nine pedestrians presented to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with e-scooter injuries in 2022, but a transport consultant says a lack of regulation isn’t to blame.

Founder of transport consultancy group, Zipidi, Stephen Coulter, told Shane McInnes, filling in on 3AW Afternoons, while e-scooters are still operating under an extended trial in Melbourne he thinks “they will stay”.

“The regulations here are pretty good, I question probably more the enforcement, rather than the regulations,” he said.
