Transport Minister’s frank comment on future of SRL funding

Federal Transport Minister Catherine King says more work needs to be done before extra money is committed to Jacinta Allan’s Suburban Rail Loop.

After Treasurer Jim Chalmers said on 3AW last week that no extra money has been budgeted for the project, Ms King told Tom Elliott exactly what has to happen for more federal funding to be allocated.

“There’s no money in the forward estimates for Suburban Rail Loop East other than the $2.2b already committed,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“There’s more work the Victorian government will need to do before we invest further.”
