Treasurer explains latest bid to ease energy prices, denies backflip on gas exploration ban
More than 1300 square kilometres of coastal waters and coastline in western Victoria has been opened up to gas exploration by the Andrews government, including potential drilling from onshore.
But the treasurer denies it’s a backflip on its own onshore gas exploration ban.
“The ban on on-shore fracking remains in place,” Tim Pallas told Tom Elliott.
“The gas source is off shore.”
