Tributes flow for ‘extraordinary’ former Labor leader Simon Crean
Tributes are flowing for former federal Labor leader Simon Crean, who has died at the age of 74.
Mr Crean, who was a key figure in the Labor and union movement, was on a business trip in Germany when he died suddenly after morning exercise yesterday.
Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil says Mr Crean was the first politician she ever met, and she’s “going to miss him terribly”.
