Truckloads of Tassie hay being driven across to help drought-stricken NSW farmers
THE RUMOUR FILE
Truckloads of hay from Tasmania will roll off the Spirit on Monday morning, as Tasmanian farmers reach out to colleagues in drought-stricken New South Wales.
The Rumour File heard that 14 truckloads of hay will be driven across from Tassie but that organisers of the hay drive need some financial assistance.
Hay Drive Coordinator, Glenn Phillips, later told Ross and John the hay has been bought or donated by generous Tassie farmers.
“We’re headed to Tamworth and will be distributing hay within a 400km radius of the surrounding area,” he said.
“The hay and been bought or donated by farmers for farmers up there.
“We’ve got a couple of good sponsors from around the area who have chipped in a few bob to pay for fuel and things, if anyone has a spare few bob, get on board with your local Lions Club.”

This prompted a call from Paul Vawdrey from Vawdrey Semi Trailers.
“As we all know, they’re our food bowl so we want to donate $10,000 for fuel or hay or whatever, just to help them out,” Paul said.
