‘Truth hurts’: Lidia Thorpe defends decision to mock the Queen in parliament

Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe has questioned why the Queen “deserves respect” while defending her decision to mock her in parliament.

Senator Thorpe was told to repeat the oath while being sworn in after describing the Queen as a ‘coloniser’ during her recitical.

She told Neil Mitchell it was a “false oath” in an “illegitimate” parliament.

Neil Mitchell: “Then why the hell are you part of it, if it’s an illegitimate parliament?”
