TV news equipment theft attempt thwarted in Footscray

Today show breakfast reporter Christine Ahern recounted an attempted robbery her camera operator experienced before a live news cross in Footscray on Thursday morning.

She told 3AW Breakfast hosts Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft her camera operator was getting his equipment ready when he was confronted by about six people.

“There was a group of locals and they just picked up the equipment and decided to take off with it,” she said.

Police and Fire services were on the scene and were able to recover the equipment.
