Twelve rare parrots stole from Dandenong North aviary

Ross and Russel

12 rare and valuable parrots were stolen from an aviary in Melbourne’s south-east.

Eight Indian Ringnecks parrots and four Alexandrian parakeets were taken from a property in Dandenong North.

10 of the birds have since been recovered but investigators are still searching for two Indian Ringnecks.

The birds are worth around $500 each.

Detective Senior Constable Rob Colcott from the Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit told Ross and John, while they have two suspects, they still need further information from the public.

‘At this stage, one of them is assisting us with our inquiries,’ he told 3AW Breakfast.

‘But, we’ve got two men that we’re considering we may be able to get help from the public with if anyone’s seen anything.’
