Two arrested after cafe shooting in Essendon

Police on patrol observed multiple shots allegedly being fired into a cafe in Essendon about 2.45am on Friday.

Live at the scene, 3AW news reporter Christie Cooper told 3AW Breakfast hosts Jimmy Bartel and Mark Allen police were on the scene and able to respond swiftly.

Officers from the critical incident response team arrested an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old, who remain in custody.

“The air wing was also in the air which I find interesting … I’ll be very curious to find out if it was a coincidence,” she said.
