Two people have been arrested following a dramatic incident near EastLink on Tuesday.

3AW Drive was alerted to what was happening at the time.

Emergency services responded to reports of a car crashing into a fence near Worsley and Bangholme roads about 3.45pm.

Two occupants, a man and woman, allegedly fled the vehicle, which had previously been listed as stolen.

Police officers attended the scene alongside the dog squad, with the woman allegedly running across the southbound lanes of Eastlink to avoid arrest.

Two cars which took evasive action to avoid hitting the woman were involved in a minor crash.

Nobody was injured.

A 21-year-old man of no fixed place of address and a 29-year-old Mount Waverley woman were arrested near Eastlink a short time later.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
