Two dead following appalling weekend of violence across Melbourne
Two people are dead and several others seriously injured after a string of violent incidents across Melbourne.
A 16-year-old boy and 23-year-old were killed in a separate alleged attacks at the weekend.
It’s alleged the 16-year-old was assaulted with an “edged weapon” at a Coburg North in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He died at the scene.
Meanwhile, an hour later, police were called to Docklands following reports of a brawl involving “a number of males” on Bourke Street.
Police arrived to find two men with stab wounds.
Both men were taken to hospital, but one sadly died a short time later.
The second man remains in a critical condition.
In another separate incident, three males have been charged after a teenage boy sustained life-threatening injuries during an altercation in Melbourne’s CBD.
Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Cap said the violence was “disappointing”.
Three men were also injured in a brawl outside a Toorak nightclub overnight.
