Two men flee car before train slams into it at Jacana

Two men have been spotted fleeing a four wheel drive before a VLine train slammed into it in Melbourne’s north west on Monday night.

Police have been told that two men were seen fleeing from the vehicle on the tracks near Jacana Station.

An Albury-bound train slammed into it around 6.40pm.

Paramedics assessed some of the 170 passengers and crew, but nobody was taken to hospital.

The scene was cleared around midnight, with no VLine services this morning affected.

The company has described the damage to the train as minor.

The train driver has been praised for avoiding a potential catastrophe.
