Two people arrested, police officer injured after baton fight at Chadstone

Two men have been taken into custody after fighting each other with batons at Chadstone Shopping Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say an officer sustained minor injuries while arresting the individuals, who were known to each other, at a park nearby in Malvern East.

Caller Emily told Jacqui Felgate she was out at lunch before witnessing the incident in real time.

“One policeman was sitting on a bench with a gash to his head,” she said on 3AW Drive.

“It’s always a bit frightening when these things happen so close to home.”
