Two people rescued from balcony of burning home

Two people have been rescued from the balcony of a home that went up in flames this morning.

The two-storey home at Sunshine West caught fire about 4am.

The blaze quickly took hold of the ground floor lounge room, leaving the two residents trapped upstairs.

Fire crews arrived within minutes, rescuing them via a ladder.

The blaze was the blaze quickly contained to the loungeroom and declared under control within about half an hour.

Fire investigators will attend the scene later this morning to determine the cause.
