Two people taken to hospital after tram derails in CBD

A tram carrying more than 20 people has derailed in the CBD after colliding with a concrete mixer truck.

Emergency services were called to the Elizabeth and A’Beckett Street intersection, late on Friday morning.

The truck driver and one tram passenger were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Tram routes 19 and 59 have been impacted as crews work to get the tram back on its tracks.
