Two prison officers taken to hospital after alleged assault by prisoner

Two prison officers have been hospitalised after allegedly being attacked by an inmate at Loddon Prison in Castlemaine this morning.

Corrections Victoria has confirmed an incident occurred at around 11am in the Middleton Annex of the medium security prison. 

It’s understood the pair were assaulted with one suffering a broken nose. 

The prison is no longer in lockdown after the incident.
