Two 16-year-old girls have been charged with a string of aggravated burglaries and car thefts.

It comes amid claims from a former top cop – there aren’t enough police on the beat.

The two 16-year-olds were arrested in an allegedly stolen car in Dandenong yesterday afternoon.

They’ve been charged over a series of aggravated burglaries and car thefts that happened in Berwick, Dandenong, Lynbrook,Drouin and Longwarry over the past two months.

One of the girls was allegedly on bail at the time.

They are among the more than 80 people arrested as part of Operation Cosmos – which was established in May amid a spate of aggravated burglaries and car jackings.
