Neil Mitchell says two things stood out to him as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, along with US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, unveiled the details of the mammoth AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine deal.

The deal will cost up to $368 billion by 2055 and is the most costly defence investment in Australia’s history.
