Two people have died in a two car crash in Melbourne’s north.

A black Mercedes and a red sedan collided at the intersection of Mickleham Road and Alanbrae Terrace in Attwood around 10pm night.

A female passenger of the sedan died at the scene, while the driver died en route to hospital

The male driver and sole occupant of the Mercedes was unhurt and is being questioned detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit.

Mark Amos from the MCIU told Neil Mitchell he believes two young girls in the car behind the sedan were the daughters of one of the victims.

‘I just cannot fathom how they’re going to cope with it,’ Mr Amos said.

‘I can’t think of a worse thing to have seen than watching your mother die in front of you.’
