UBER drivers caught ‘scamming’ the surge pricing system

Some UBER drivers have been caught out ‘scamming’ the system.

Users of the ride-sharing app have told 3AW Breakfast drivers were cancelling jobs once they’re close to a pickup to make it appear as though demand in the area had increased.

They then accept another fare once surge pricing kicks in.

Rob told Justin and Kate it was all about getting more money for the trip.

‘It’s actually a scam that the drivers have concocted,’ he explained.

‘They’ve worked out how to rort the algorithm that UBER sets with the surge pricing.’
