Three people in Western Australia’s hotel quarantine system have tested positive for the highly infectious strain of the coronavirus that is currently gripping the United Kingdom.

WA Premier Mark McGowan confirmed the news on Tuesday.

He said all three people had recently arrived from the UK and were being managed closely.

The mutant strain is reportedly as much as 70 per cent more infectious than other variants of COVID-19.
