UPDATE: A tourist missing for more than 24 hours after vanishing from a Melbourne beach has been found safe and well.

Ben Wyatt, who is autistic, went missing from Half Moon Bay at Black Rock about 2.15pm on Tuesday.

His worried family issued a tearful plea for help on Wednesday morning after the water police, SES and other search parties were unable to find him.

But on Wednesday night, the best news possible: Ben came home.

“Benjamin returned to his home address in Doncaster about 7.45pm this evening,” police said.

“He is safe and well and has been reunited with his family.”

“Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance in the search for Doncaster man Benjamin Wyatt.”

Earlier…

“Please, please, please tell police if you see him,” Benjamin’s father Phil told 3AW listeners.
