Union halts work at Brimbank council depot over safety concerns

WORD ON THE STREET CONFIRMED

The largest maintenance depot in Brimbank City Council has is closed this morning as a result of union action.

It means council works including road maintenance, graffiti cleaning and tree lopping may be delayed.

President of the Municipal Utilities Workers Union, Jennifer Marriott, told Tom Elliott union representatives are on site for a safety inspection after “a number of concerns” were raised by staff, and several concerning safety issues have been detected.
