Union leader slams ‘stupid and dangerously divisive’ prison officer sign-on bonus

Community and Public Sector Union spokesperson, Julian Kennelly, has slammed the state government’s “stupid and dangerously divisive” prison officer sign-on bonus.

New prison officers will be offered a $5,000 sign-on bonus, and Mr Kennelly claims none of the existing officers in the state knew about this, and believes it will cause tension in the workplace.

“It’s stupid and dangerously divisive in the workplace for these new starters when they come on,” Mr Kennelly told Neil Mitchell.
