Union official hits out at ‘out of touch’ RBA as protest occurs at the Trades Hall
The head of Victoria’s Trades Hall Council has hit out at the Reserve Bank of Australia for fuelling the rising cost of living in Australia, which led to a construction worker protest at the Trades Hall on Wednesday morning.
Union official Luke Hilakari is particularly disappointed with RBA Governor Philip Lowe after he promised interest rates wouldn’t rise until 2024.
“That was pretty irresponsible, we feel like that board is completely out of touch with everyday people,” Mr Hilakari told Tom Elliott, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
