A university study has revealed 10 per cent of Australians are Islamophobic.

The random survey, conducted by the University of South Australia, questioned 1000 people and found most people were not concerned by the religion.

‘The overwhelming majority of Australians feel very comfortable with Muslims,’ Professor Riaz Hassan told Tom Elliott.

Prof. Hassan revealed four types of people were more likely than most to hold reservations about the religion.

  • The elderly.
  • Those who don’t have a Year-12 education.
  • The unemployed.
  • Those hostile towards migrants in general.

‘It doesn’t mean everybody in those groups is hostile,’ Prof. Hassan clarified.
