US President Donald Trump announces peace deal between US and Iran

Donald Trump has announced that the US and Iran have reached a peace deal, ending their three-and-a-half-month-old war.

United States Studies Centre associate professor in American politics and foreign policy David Smith told 3AW host Shane McInnes the 60-day timeline set for negotiations was optimistic.

“Last time that the US and Iran negotiated a deal over Iran’s nuclear program it took two years, so I’m sceptical that 60 days is going to be enough,” Professor Smith said.
