‘Use the bus’: Roads clogged up with Hurstbridge line shut down

VicRoads is urging commuters to use the bus as the closure of the Hurstbridge train line causes traffic headaches.

Ross and John have been swamped with callers this week, fed up with crawling into the city from the north-east.

And it’s only just started, with the closure to last until April 29.

“There a lot of extra buses on the road, but not everyone is choosing to use the bus either so that means extra cars as well,” VicRoads spokesperson Chris Miller told the boys this morning.

“We encourage everyone to give the bus a go if possible.”

He also encouraged people plan ahead, especially around Eltham, where the traffic has been particularly bad will benefit from some key road re-opening yesterday and today.
