‘Utterly wrong’: The latest asylum seeker news which ‘shocked’ Tom Elliott

In less than two years, more than 2,158 partners and family members of asylum seekers who arrived in the country illegally by boat have been granted permanent Australian visas.
The latest news “shocked” Tom Elliott, who worries about the message it sends and fears the illegal boat trade will ramp up again.
“I think we’re going to lose control of our borders again,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“The idea that we should let in and reward illegal migrants is just utterly wrong,” he said.
Shadow Home Affairs Minister, Senator James Paterson, is also worried with the recent figures and has called for temporary protection visas to be reintroduced.
“That sends a terrible message to others thinking that they might be able to pull this off,” Senator Paterson said on 3AW Mornings.
